Many apologies for a long silence! But Real Life kicked in with a vengeance in March, when I had to put my mother into sheltered accommodation. This left me with a pile of administrative sorting out to do, and as a consequence, I didn't have much heart for my beloved ONW. But I am back now, with a few ideas to try out. Please keep reading, here and at the Schloss.

I feel for you with your mother.
Mine own is beginning to worry me, but I'm hoping she'll hold out to the end... I'm able to give her more dignity and autonomy than any shelter could do...
Prayers with you of course.

Thank you for your prayers. I have been caring for Ma for the last three years, and although I tried, I just couldn't keep it all together any more. It's a long story, but we live in a tiny rural village, where for lack of amenities she was house-bound and on her own for much of the day. Now she has her own flat in a community of her own generation. She is to a great extent autonomous. A much better solution than a 'care' home.
